Learning to Scuba Dive
Learning to dive and becoming a SCUBA Diver can change your life. Diving offers you the chance to explore the three-fourths of our world that is underwater. Diving offers you the chance to experience the sensation of weightlessness. Diving offers the chance to meet interesting and unique people, like yourself, who have decided to enjoy the world of diving. Diving has many things to offer. The first step is learning to dive.
Learning to dive is safe and simple. But it does require very special training. In order to take the course you should be a reasonably comfortable swimmer with no major health problems. If you have questions about your health, just give us a call and we will send you a copy of the physical examination guidelines for diving. At Tiedemann's Diving Center we have devoted over 50 years to teaching diving. We have, through our programs, introduced over 15,000 people to the sport of SCUBA diving. Our commitment to teaching diving has meant ongoing improvements to make our courses the very best. The programs that we teach today include the most up-to-date materials and techniques. Our programs receive our full-time attention. We want only one thing, to teach the best possible SCUBA course.
The best way to become a great Scuba diver is with a great Scuba class that covers everything you need to know. We, at Tiedemann’s Diving Center, do just such a class in three simple steps...
Step one - Scuba divers need to know what they are doing. We call this part of your training - "the academics". This is done with a great online program. Here is a short video on the great app that lets you study anywhere.
To help you make sure you know and understand everything you need to be a safe and comfortable diver, we give you two personal academic review sessions. These sessions are available over a dozen different times a week. Mornings, Evenings and weekends. You make an appointment the works for you.
Step two - the pool work. We are offering pool sessions on weekdays and weekends. They can be early or late, we a lot of flexibility in this area. In the pool, you learn to use the equipment and develop "Scuba skills". You need two or three pool sessions to complete the pool skill before they go on to the third step, the Open Water Dives. All equipment for the pool is supplied. You need not purchase anything to get started. All equipment is taken to and from the pool. You need only to show up.
The these two steps are how you start working towards your Open Water Diver certification. As you can see, our program is based on being very flexible. This is a private class. You will be working with a private instructor in the pool. He or she will be giving you their undivided attention. This makes learning very efficient.
You can start the program any time you want. Just call the shop and set up an appointment.
Remember - all equipment is supplied. You do not have to purchase everything. All equipment is taken to and from the pool. Each student will have for their own use: mask, fins, snorkel, tank, regulator, buoyancy compensator, wetsuit (pool is heated but learning to dive with a wetsuit helps you to understand and deal with buoyancy changes) and weights.
Step three - the open water dives. Once the pool and academics are done you will have the chance to go diving in open water. Diving in a pool is fun but diving in open water is what Scuba diving is all about. You now take what you learned in your Scuba lessons and use it to go diving. This is fun and exciting and after completing these dives with an instructor you receive certification as an Open Water Diver. You need to complete 4 dives over 2 days to qualify.
These dives can be done in a number of different ways.
First - You could complete the four dives on your next vacation. Someplace in the Caribbean, Hawaii or Florida - someplace where the water is warm and clear. This way of getting certified is using the "referral system". It allows you to complete their Scuba training in the beautiful, warm waters of the world. There is no charge to receive a referral from us.
Second - You could complete the needed dives with us right here on Long Island. The third way to get certified is to do your open water dives with us right here on Long Island. Our island has a number of different beach dive location that we can use to complete your 4 dives. The 4 dives need to be done over 2 days so all the work could be done in one weekend. If you wish to complete the dives during the week, we can work that out also. Our program is known for its flexibility.
You know the instructors that you met in the pool during your training. These are the same experienced instructors that will be with you on your open water dives for certification. These experienced instructors are committed to giving you the best possible training.
Third - Join us on one of our trips. We run dive trips to Florida and the Caribbean on a regular basis. Check out our “Upcoming Trips” on the home page to see all our great upcoming trips.
As you can see, as simple as 1 - 2 - 3. Contact us today and you can start your diving adventures.
Our program is taught through the auspices of SSI. Scuba Schools International is committed to safe and comfortable diving, just like everyone at Tiedemann’s Diving Center.
